Escape to Everywhere, Escape to Whoville
Each year, schools across Australia spend a week celebrating books and Australian authors and illustrators. The theme this year was Escape to Everywhere.
Here at Kalbar the entire staff and students from Prep- Year 6 got into the spirit of things and dressed as Dr Seuss book characters for our ‘Welcome to Whoville’ extravaganza. Parents and friends marvelled at the colour, the costumes and the enthusiasm of the students as they recited an extract from their favourite Dr Seuss book.
Parents joined in the fun by helping students to ‘Bake a Fake Cake’ and providing an incredibly creative array of Dr Seuss themed delicacies for class celebrations.
As the parade passed by, the Cat in the Hat (aka Miss Brook) was heard to declare, “Oh me! Oh my!
Oh me! Oh my! What a lot of funny things go by.”
