Early Childhood

Kalbar State School recognises the importance of learing prior to attending school. As an Independent Public School Inoovation a 3 pillar approach to assisting with pre-shool learning includes:

1. Building strong relationships with local kindies and child care providers

2. Running a weekly Koala Joeys program

3. Being key to organising an annual Early Learning Conference.

Koala Joeys Program at Kalbar

Koala Joeys is a specifically created program for young children and their parents/carers.  The program focuses on using nursery rhymes, songs, dance, movement and stories to engage young children.  Koala Joeys is a program designed for young children up to the age they enter school.  It is a fun and interactive program that provides opportunities for oral language experiences, social interactions and extension of vocabulary.

Koala Joeys enables children opportunities to:-

*Develop language, literacy and numeracy skills
*Develop good listening skills
*Develop social skills appropriate for school
*Have fun and interact with other children and adults
*Develop a community of friends

Koala Joeys will run from 9-9.45am on Thursday mornings in the Library.  The session will be followed by morning tea.  I am also very keen to follow this up with a playgroup.  The playgroup would be aimed at engaging children in a variety of structured and unstructured experiences.  If you would like any further information please contact Melissa Muller.

Early Learning Conference

In 2015 Kalbar School organised a conference with an Early Learning focus with keynote speaker, Andrew Fuller.

In 2016 the Fassifern district will host a similar conference. Keep watching this website for details as they arise.
